The Mistints: An Inside Job

A few years back, I was struck by the lack of colour in my studio. Was this because of the generally accepted rule of truth to materials or was I just chromaphobic?
Around the same time, I was cleaning up the studio and needed some primer for the walls. I noticed a display of cans at the paint store that were labeled as mistints , custom mixed colours that were returned as mistakes and bad choices. A wide range of unwanted and homeless hues at a discount, ideal for a closer look into the murky world of colour.
